MEMBERSHIP POLICY - Sarasota Bay Model Railroad Society

Membership in the Sarasota Bay Model Railroad Society, inc. is open to anybody, anywhere, regardless of age or experience.

We are not trying to be politically correct; we mean it.

One of our purposes is to pass on our knowledge and enthusiasm for the hobby to following generations. The club members range from people with great experience in modeling, train operation, modern wiring, track layout, and construction techniques to members who just ran model trains as a kid and want to do it again.

We love to teach. That is why we will have community outreach programs and programs at our lunches. If you want to learn, just ask. If you just like the comradery of fellow members with similar interests, enjoy the lunches and field trips. Modern model railroading is a complex hobby, and everyone has a life experience to contribute. Plus, we can learn from you. You can teach an old dog new tricks.

Membership runs from January to December. We do not pro rate the dues, which currently stand at $25 per year with a one time initial fee of $50. Spouses and children under 18 years old are included in the membership. Just fill out a separate application for each person. All members have the right to participate and to vote, but you must be present at the meeting. We are looking into Zoom participation in all the lunches, as we know many of our members are seasonal, but we are not there yet.
